Lionel Berthod

joined in July 2016

About Lionel: He holds a MSc from HEC Lausanne in Business Information Systems and has worked around 20 years in the insurance, banking and consulting services in Switzerland and Europe. He seized with enthusiasm the opportunity of a new position in Singapore and relocated in January 2016. His first contacts with SAS motivated him not to let the VP position vacant any longer but to join the committee, take an active part in the life in the Swiss community, network and enjoy the people and places of this astonishing country. 
After almost three years in this position he stepped up to take over the role of President in April 2019.

Favorite Local Dish: ayam buah keluak, black pepper tiger prawn, prata double egg.

Favorite Touristic Place in Singapore: Little India & Tekka Centre, Keong Saik Road.

Special Interest: discovering Asia, geopolitics, good food paired with good wine.

Daniela Wespi

About DanielaBefore relocating to Singapore in December 2015 with her husband and their little son, Daniela had been working over 6 years as a Executive Assistant in the Zurich banking industry and previously many years as organizer in the film industry. Three months after her second son was born, Daniela started to look for something to balance family life and found a great opportunity with SAS as Event Coordinator and running the back office as Secretary. After two years in these positions she stepped up to take over the role as Vice President of the Swiss Association of Singapore in April 2019.

Favorite Local Dish: Soft-shell Crab, Dim Sum, Laksa with Tiger Prawns, Roast Duck.

Favorite Touristic Place in Singapore: Dempsey Hill, Duxton Hill, Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa.

Special Interest: Family & Friends, Travelling & different Cultures, Singing & Sport.


Emmanuelle Barasche

Joined in November 2017

About Emmanuelle: She grew up in Paris and moved to Geneva about 13 years ago where she studied Law. After her bar exam in 2011, Emmanuelle worked and studied in Zurich, Beijing and London before relocating to Singapore with her husband in 2014. She is registered as a Foreign Lawyer in Singapore since January 2015 and works in a law firm since then. Eager to take an active part in the Swiss community in Singapore, she joined the committee in November 2017. 

Favorite Local Dish: Dim Sum, Peking Duck and Satay.

Favorite Touristic Place: Tiong Bahru, Labrador Park and Sentosa.

Special Interest: Family, Sport, Music.


Lina Wastian

Webmaster & digital marketing
JOINED in January 2018

About Lina: Lina holds a Master’ degree from EFP Lausanne in communication systems and has been employed in the IT and telecommunication industry as a project manager and as a marketing and sales manager in Switzerland. Lina relocated to Singapore in July 2017 with her husband. She decided to get involved in the Swiss Association of Singapore by taking over the role as Webmaster and Digital Marketing. She is keen to get in contact with other people and to explore Singapore’s art and culture.

Favorite Local Dish: Dim Sum, black pepper tiger prawn, Hotpot.

Favorite Touristic Place in Singapore: China Town, Botanic Garden, National Gallery, Art & Science Museum.

Special Interest: Traveling, Asian social media, reading, sports and good food paired with good wine.

Kristof Trautwein

About Kristof: Motivated in meeting great people and to keep the connection to Switzerland (and inspired by the fantastic annual ‘welcome-back’ event in 2018), Kristof took over an active role with SAS in January 2019, soon after arriving in Singapore. He is an Economist, working as management consultant and regularly publishes thought leadership papers about Wealth Management and the Swiss Financial Center. Before moving to Singapore, Kristof has lived in Germany, France, Korea, and Switzerland.

Favorite Local Dish: Carrot Cake, Hong Kong Fried Rice

About Virginie: Virginie grew up in Strasbourg, before moving to Paris, London and then Geneva.
Graduated from a Management Business school, she has an accounting profile with work experiences in external audit, consolidation and accounting department.
In 2017 she moved with her family from Geneva to Singapore. She decided to join the SAS Committee in January 2019 in order to stay in touch with the Swiss community, first as an Event Coordinator and then as Secretary.

About Vanessa: Vanessa grew up and worked most of her life in Valais, in the banking industry as a client manager and Wealth Management assistant.
In 2015 she moved with her husband and two daughters to Zurich.
Their dream of living in Singapore came true in September 2017 when they all relocated to the Lion City. Since then, they are enjoying sunny and warm South East Asia.

Julie Choi

About Julie: Julie grew up and spent majority of her life in South Korea until she met her husband. Julie and her husband moved to Zurich from Korea in 2012, then moved to Singapore in 2015. She worked as office & event manager around 10 years in different companies in Singapore, Korea and Switzerland and studied hotel management in UCCR, Switzerland. She is very fond of experience in Switzerland, so joined SAS to keep in touch with the Swiss community in Singapore.

Favorite Local Dish: Dim Sum, Char Kway Teow, Laksa, and Satay.

Favorite Touristic Place: Tiong Bahru, Joo Chiat, East Coast Park and Sentosa.

Matthias Meienhofer

About Matthias: Matthias grew up in Zurich and studied Electrical Engineering at HSR. He “fell in love” with Singapore during a brief exchange semester at NTU in 2015, and directly afterwards decided to move. He is currently in a business development/sales role for a 3D design- and PLM software company, and focuses on emerging markets in the AP-South region. Joining SAS for Matthias means giving something back to the Swiss community in Singapore and meeting many great people!

About Liz: Liz grew up in Rorschach at the Lake of Constance. Before she moved with her husband to Singapore, she worked around 20 years as a HR Manager in different companies in St. Gallen and environment. She holds diplomas in HR Management and Swiss Social Insurances.
