Dear Members and Friends,
Have you ever been around various parts of Singapore and wonder what certain places mean or how certain foods are actually pronounced? Have you been curious to learn some phrases in Malay but never had the chance to learn properly?
Join us for a very special, fun loaded and informative Malay evening on the rooftop!
Get to know our lovely Malay teacher, Mrs. Shazwani, forĀ this evening. Shaz will teach you some basic vocabulary and also explain the grammatical structure of this special language.
You will learn interesting facts about the language such as: Malay has no tenses, rather to form a plural you just double up the singular word.
For example, anak means “child,ā and anakanak means āchildren,ā or that guru means “teacher”?
Shaz will also explain about the Malay names of Singapore’s streets and most famous places such as: Bugis, Jalan, Bras Basah and Geylang.
Beside this, Shaz will teach us a typical Malay game and present some traditional Malay clothing.
And last but not least, we will taste some delicious Malay food, and of course, get to know what the names of the dishes mean!
