Dear Members & Friends,
Join us for a guided tour with Charlotte Chu to explore some interesting places in Chinatown.
“Street art can make a city feel like an open-air gallery” Conde Nest Traveller
Not so long ago, painting on walls was considered criminal. Thankfully, we have put those days behind and our streets have come alive with bright colorful murals. Just in main section of Chinatown, there are over 40 murals in the thoroughfares and side streets. Through their vibrant and lively brush strokes, established artists, students and the community in Chinatown, have shared with us the heritage of this historical district and the contributions made by the early immigrants. Come on the tour to hear about what the various animals, shapes and objects in the murals tell us about the beliefs and culture of the Chinese. The tour will end at Chinatown Complex, where you can stay on for lunch (optional).
There are lots of walking, so put on comfortable shoes, bring a bottle of water and also an umbrella just in case.
Meeting point: Above ground of Exit A of Telok Ayer MRT
Date: Saturday 28th of August
Time: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Fees: $42 for Members, $57 for non-Members
Kind regards,
Carole
