Dear Members and Friends,
Our next guided tour is dedicated to the Peranakan culture:
Southeast Asia has been a crossroads for trade since ancient times. Prevailing winds brought traders from distant lands to Southeast Asia. Some of these traders put down roots and married local women. Their descendants are the ancestors of the Peranakans.
Come to the Peranakan Museum and immerse yourself in this unique Southeast Asian culture, and the best way to round up your Peranakan experience is to dine in a restaurant located in a shophouse with inviting decor and authentic Peranakan delicacies, where the culture comes alive. “It’s a living heritage”.
Date: 20 August 2015, 10am
Programm:
Meeting point is at 10am at the museum. The tour starts at 10.15am and will take about 60 to 70min. After that, there is a Q&A with the experienced tour guide while having a look at the museum’s gift shop. At 11.45am you have the opportunity to experience the culture first-hand at lunch at the original Peranakan Restaurant next door (payment upon consumption). Should you wish to skip the lunch, we kindly ask you to indicate with your registration.
Location: 39 Armenian Street
Price: Members $10, Non-Members $15 (including ticket – you do not have to buy your own anymore).
