Dear members
Deepavali – the Festival of Lights, the most important festival for the Hindus. Come on this walk to find out how the Hindus celebrate this very colourful holiday.
Indulge in all your senses as you walk through the most colourful and interesting Ethnic Area.
Check out Serangoon and its back streets, where you will find a myriad of shops, including spices, textiles and garland makers etc. Learn about the history of the area and see the beautiful architecture of the colourful terrace houses. Hear about the Gods in the oldest Hindu temple in the area. Always curious about how a Sari is tied? Well we will hear and see it from the “horse’s mouth”, a seamstress! This tour will end with an overview of the Tekka Market, one of Singapore’s biggest and best known wet markets
You have the option of staying on for lunch at the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Little India (to be paid upon consumption!).
Please dress modestly and put on comfortable shoes which are easy to slip on and off; don’t forget umbrellas and cameras!
