On the 13th of May, 2008 the Swiss Association Singapore visited the Alexandra Hospital. The Alexandra Hospital is an old hospital built in the late 1930's. It was originally built by the British Military. This hospital is located in the west of Singapore and has a big plot land.

After a short introduction we went into the magnificent garden. In the garden it has 100 different species of butterflies. They live there because it has the correct trees for every butterfly. In the garden you can also find different plants with colourful spots. You can learn which plants are poisons and which ones are not. The garden is public. So you can go for an exciting and relaxing walk.

After a small break the tour went inside the building. The first stop was in the emergency station. The tour guide showed us the different kind of rooms and stations. The most impressive room I saw was with a lot of beds but without air con. When I looked around I saw a lot of employees, many more than in a hospital in Switzerland.

At last we could see the nice smelling kitchen. This room was so clean that we could eat off the floor.

Thanks a lot for this exciting tour.
