We visited the Swisshotel
on the 5th of March, 2008. Together with our guides, Otto
Weibel, Director of Kitchens and one of his chefs, we could
make a tour in the Swisshotel behind the scenes. The
Swisshotel in Singapore is one of the 35 Swisshotels around
the whole earth. In Singapore, at the Swisshotel, works
three Swiss. Otto Weibel is one of those.
When we started the tour we
visited the ballrooms first. We learned, in the biggest
ballroom, 3000 people can eat. There is also an extra room
for presidents to wait. After that, they showed us all the
kitchens. They have Chinese, cold, Muslim, bakery,
patisserie and butchery kitchens and lots more. It has 18
restaurants in the whole Swisshotel in Singapore. They bake
24 hours per day. The Swisshoel makes also the sausages for
the Singapore Airlines. They have an extra restaurant just
for the executives. And they have a Japanese, Chinese,
Italian and an Earth restaurant.
The Swisshotel has 1250
rooms. In the year 2007 there was 92% occupancy. The crews
of British Airlines and Quantas sleep in the Swisshotel. We
toured also the three swimming pools.
Later we visited the 'Crest'.
This is a hotel in the hotel and has only suites. We saw the
biggest suite with a living, a sleeping and a big bathroom.
Every room has his own TV.
At last we enjoyed a
delicious Aperitif in one of the kitchens. Thanks a lot!
